I received this message this past Sunday, April 15, from a good friend and colleague in the tour and travel industry this past Sunday, April 15. Could you please do what you can to help?—Jake Steinman
“I don’t know if you are in a position to do this. Might you be able to share this story? It’s about Victor Yu. He is a seasoned veteran in the tourism industry having been employed at CYTS for Canada’s operation for a number of years and now for the last four years and he is the sales manager at the Sheraton Vancouver airport hotel. He specializes in Asia Pacific (China) business development. This is the hotel that hosted Active America China in Canada. He is well loved. Gentle. Kind. His wife gave birth last Sunday to twin daughters.
“This is supposed to be a joyous celebration; sadly it is not as he prepares for a funeral. His wife died directly after the birth of his two daughters. The girls remain in Children’s Hospital, but naturally Victor had to come home to attend to his five-year-old son Robin, who is lead to believe that his mother is in Paradise. Visa entry to Canada was expedited for both sets of grandparents. I have set up a go fund me account and I’m hoping if you would find it possible to post. Our industry is small but as a community I hope we can come together to help:
Thank you so very much. Hugs. Life is precious!!!! Gayle Craig—604.837.8986.”

Thanks for bringing this tragedy to our attention. As an industry, we should be able to make a difference in Victor and his children’s lives. We can’t bring his wife and best friend back but we can give Victor and his young family the long term security they need to carry on.

Thank you to Jake, Sofia and to the team for including this article in this week’s inbound report.
